Two Alabama teens killed when car strikes tree, state troopers say

Two Alabama teenagers were killed Sunday when their car veered off the road and struck a tree, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on Sunday afternoon in Jackson County and claimed the lives of a 17-year-old driver and a 19-year-old passenger when their car left the roadway and struck a tree.

The accident happened on Alabama 40 approximately 1 mile south of Scottsboro, Alabama.

The 17-year-old driver was not identified due to the driver being a juvenile but was from Dutton, Alabama.

The 19-year-old passenger was identified as Andrew S. Turner of Dutton.

Troopers said neither teen was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
