Body found in Alabama lake; authorities believe man fell off dock while fishing and drowned

The body of an Alabama who was reported missing Thursday was located Sunday and pulled from a lake after authorities believe the man fell into the water while fishing from a dock.

Alabama state police said that at approximately 2:54 p.m. Sunday, crews found the body of the individual that went missing on Neely Henry Lake near Ohatchee.

The body was recovered by members of the Pell City Dive Team.

The body was identified as Mark C. Magouirk, 62, of Anniston.

Magouirk was found approximately 20-feet from where he went missing near the Lakeshore Marina.

Magouirk is believed to has fallen into the water while fishing from a dock near the Marina.

The following agencies assisted with the search and recovery efforts Troopers with ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division, Ohatchee Fire Department, Southside Fire Department, Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee County Search and Rescue, North Alabama Search Dog Association, Pell City Dive Team, Rainbow City Fire Department along with the Ohatchee Police Department. Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing.
