Alabama Skies: Much colder weather on the way

We’ll have a wide variety of weather across the state of Alabama Saturday with sunshine in the north and storms in the south.

Although we’re not expecting widespread storms along the Gulf Coast, a storm or two could be strong to severe, according to the Storm Prediction Center. The rip current risk is also rated as “high” Saturday and Sunday.

We’ll have some more clouds and showers Sunday in parts of Alabama, but the big event comes Monday when we get much colder. We’ll have freezing temperatures all the way into southern Alabama Monday night with widespread frost possible.

North Alabama

Mostly sunny with a high of 69. Becoming mostly cloudy overnight with a low of 50.

Central Alabama

Partly sunny with a high of 73. Overnight, a slight chance of a shower with mostly cloudy skies. Low of 53.

South Alabama

A mixture of sun and clouds with a high of 74. Saturday night, a chance of showers or thunderstorms. Low of 57.

Gulf Coast

Fog early, then mostly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or storm. High of 80. An isolated storm could be strong. Mostly cloudy overnight with a shower or thunderstorm. Low of 63.
