Alabama Skies: Soggy weather on tap for Friday with a few severe storms possible

There have been some changes in our forecast for Friday and the weekend.

Friday may be a little stormier than models were previously showing, but the weekend could be a little dryer, at least for some of us.

The Storm Prediction Center has a Level 1 severe risk for most of Alabama Friday from 4 a.m. in the north until 5 p.m. in the south. The main risks are isolated severe storms, hail, and damaging winds. The tornado chance is low, but it’s not zero.

Northern Alabama is looking to have a gorgeous weekend with any clouds moving out Saturday. Sunday will be clear, but much cooler. We’ll dip below freezing Monday night.

In central and southern Alabama, Saturday will remain mostly cloudy with a peak or two of sunshine possible. Sunday will have a few showers possible. Central Alabama will go right below freezing Monday night and southern Alabama will flirt with the 32-degree mark.

Along the Gulf Coast, we’ll remain wet all weekend. It’s going to be pretty cold along the coast, too, as temperatures go into the 30s Monday night.
