An Alabama man has pleaded guilty to killing his father in a January 2023 shooting.

WHNT 19 News in Huntsville reports that Jacob Tyler Thompson, 27, entered a guilty plea in February in the Jan. 9, 2023,  shooting death of  Jack Edward Thompson, 54, of Stevenson.

Thompson was sentenced to 35 years in the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC).

In 2023, officers with the Stevenson Police Department, Hollywood Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on County Road 147 in Stevenson. The shooting occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 9, 2023.

When officers arrived at the scene, Jack Edward Thompson was found dead on the front porch of the home.

Jacob Thompson was arrested the following day.
