An Alabama man was killed Tuesday when his tractor trailer was struck by a freight train, Alabama state troopers said.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, and claimed the life of a Killen man.

Mario C. Peterson, 48, was fatally injured when the 2011 Freightliner tractor-trailer he was driving was struck by a Norfolk Southern train.

Peterson was pronounced deceased at the scene which occurred on Golden Road, approximately 5 miles west of Tuscumbia, in Colbert County.
