A former north Alabama teacher who is accused of having inappropriate behavior with his students was arrested, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Dustin Wade Dalton, 28, of Rainsville, was charged with enticing a child for immoral purposes and dissemination of obscene material, said DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden.

The sheriff’s office, DeKalb County Board of Education and the state Department of Human Resources investigated the allegations against Dalton, who teaches in Sylvania. Officials did not say which school he worked for.

The investigation into Dalton is still in the early stages, Welden said, adding that Dalton may be charged with more counts.
This is an absolute unfortunate event that has happened in our quiet Town of Sylvania. We want to thank the community for coming forward with information that aided us in conducting this investigation,” Welden said in a statement. We would like to ask for prayer for the victims and their families. Protecting our youth from this type of behavior is a top priority here at the sheriff’s office.”
The sheriff asked anyone who was a victim of Dalton to contact his office’s investigators at 256-845-3801.
