Alabama woman charged after 4-year-old found with fentanyl in system, police say

An Alabama woman was arrested after a 4-year-old child was found unresponsive and eventually found to have fentanyl in her system, police said.

Decatur police said they were called to an unresponsive 4-year-old girl Friday in the 400 block of 14th Avenue NW.

EMS personnel administered Narcan to the child and she was transported to Decatur Morgan Hospital. At the hospital, the child showed a positive result for fentanyl.

Two additional children were also located inside the residence.

During the investigation, Erica Brittany Jerry, 26, of Decatur, was identified as a suspect. Inside the residence, Officers located approximately 200 pills.

Jerry was charged with three counts of chemical endangerment of a child and one count of trafficking in illegal drugs. She was booked into the Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of a $90,000 bond.

“The defendant is accused of the above crimes and should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
