An Alabama private school teacher and coach was charged Monday with having a sexual relationship with a teenage student, investigators said on Tuesday.

The parent of the 16-year-old girl called Mobile County Sheriff’s Office deputies after they allegedly discovered the relationship.

Investigators said the girl admitted to the relationship with the teacher, identified by Fox 10 as Jonathan Sauers, a teacher and coach at Faith Academy in Mobile.

The girl apparently drove to the Walmart in Semmes to meet with the teacher, who then drove to a nearby location where they had sex, deputies said. The girl was apparently out of her parents’ watch for only an hour and a half.

The parents found her car at Walmart, but could not find her so they called the sheriff.

The teacher faces charges of being a school employee engaging in sex with a student under 19 and being a school employee engaging with having sexual contact with a student under 19 years old.
