A crash involving a train and a vehicle has left one person dead in Huntsville, police said Thursday.

It happened near railroad tracks at an intersection in the city, authorities said.

One person was ejected from a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, Don Webster, a spokesman for Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, told news outlets.

The accident remains under investigation. Surrounding roads that were closed to traffic following the incident were re-opened just before 4 p.m.
