Alabama woman arrested for murder, authorities believe she beat man to death with two-by-four

An Alabama woman is in custody after deputies discovered the body of a man who was reportedly beaten to death with a two-by-four.

Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims told news sources that Shannon Elmore has been charged with murder in the death of James Edwards Jr.

Edwards’ body was found Saturday inside a Union Grove home in northeast Alabama.

Investigators determined that Edwards’ body had been in the house for several days. Autopsy results revealed that Edwards had died of blunt force trauma to the head. Investigators determined that Edwards had been beaten with a two-by-four.

What led to the man’s beating and death remains under investigation.

Elmore was taken to the Marshall County Jail where she was awaiting a bond hearing.
