An Alabama man was so intent on hurting a woman he had been dating that he chased her car into a police station parking lot, where he shot the woman in the hand before he was arrested, authorities said.

Police in the southeast Alabama city of Troy told news outlets they arrested Henry Barr, 51, on Sunday and charged him with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Barr was jailed with bail set at $375,000. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer to speak for him.

Troy police say they were called Sunday afternoon by three women in the car, who said they were being chased by another vehicle and someone was shooting at them. The women drove past the police station, with officers trying to stop both vehicles.

Troy Police Chief Randall Barr, who is not related to Henry Barr, said both vehicles drove around the station and stopped in the parking lot. The chief said Henry Barr then got out and fired a handgun at a woman in the backseat whom he had been dating.

The chief said an officer pulled into the parking lot just afterward, and confronted Barr. The man threw his gun on the ground and surrendered.

A 44-year-old woman was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. The other two women were not hurt.
