An Alabama man was killed Sunday night when the personal watercraft he was operating struck a log and threw the man onto shore, state police said.

The marine-related event occurred at approximately 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, has claimed the life of a Sheffield, Alabama, man.

Ian H. Dodge, 44, was fatally injured when the personal watercraft (PWC) he was operating struck a log near the shoreline.

Dodge was thrown from the PWC onto shore into the nearby wood line, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The incident occurred on Pickwick Lake near Little Bear Creek in Colbert County.
