How gas prices have changed in Florence in the last week

Gasoline prices have been declining nationwide for two weeks and remain below their average levels from a year ago.

“As long as we can avoid a major hurricane threatening refineries in the Gulf region, I believe we could see declines continue into this week, with the national average potentially dipping to its lowest level of the summer,” GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan said in a statement Monday.

Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East threaten to reverse those trends, as the U.S. plans for an increased military presence in the region. The U.S. and its allies are anticipating a retaliatory attack from Iran against Israel after the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh.
