A road rage incident turned violent Thursday when Alabama police said a motorcycle rider pulled a gun and fired on an occupied SUV near a Walmart Supercenter.

The incident started Thursday when Morgan County Central Dispatch received a call of possible shots fired near Walmart Supercenter, located at 2800 Spring Avenue SW.

Once officers arrived at the scene, they located an occupied vehicle that had been struck by a bullet.

Detectives responded to the scene and determined that the SUV was involved in a road rage incident on Beltline Road with a male subject on a motorcycle. Once at Walmart, a physical altercation occurred between both parties. The motorcyclist produced a firearm and shot the SUV. No one in the SUV was injured.

The male was identified as Joseph Mcalpin. Mcalpin was arrested and charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle and transported to the Morgan County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

“The defendant is accused of the above crimes and should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
