An Alabama woman accused of trying to drown her son has been indicted for child abuse.

WAFF 48 News reports that a Colbert County grand jury has indicted Ashley Jones.

Jones is now facing an aggravated child abuse charge in the case.

According to Colbert County officials, Jones’ 10-year-old son reported to a police officer and social worker that his mother tried to drown him in a bathtub.

The boy reported he was splashed with bleach when he told his mother he’d rather live with his father.

The child told police that his mother held him underwater when he tried to wash the bleach off.

Officials say that Jones has denied the allegations.
