An Alabama 4-year-old was shot and killed inside a residence Sunday morning, authorities confirmed.

Details of exactly how the child was shot and who pulled the trigger were not immediately released by investigators, but they indicated they believed the shooting to be accidental.

The Madison County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death of a 4-year-old child and Coroner Tyler Berryhill told local media that the child was pronounced dead at Huntsville Hospital just after 8 a.m. Sunday.

The matter is being investigated by Huntsville police.
