A video depicting animal cruelty that was circulating on social media led to the arrest of an Alabama man on Monday.

Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office investigators said after they saw the video, they obtained a search warrant for a property in the Zip City community.

Deputies arrested Nathaniel Shane Brewster, 20, of Florence, and charged him with animal cruelty, unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The dog in the video was rescued and is being cared for by the Florence/Lauderdale Animal Shelter, investigators said.
