Alabama criminal investigators are working to determine the identify of human remains found inside a burning shed late Wednesday night.
Jefferson County Deputy Chief Coroner Bill Yates said Birmingham Fire and Rescue was called to a property in the 300 block of 21st Avenue South in Birmingham at approximately 10:56 p.m. Wednesday.
Crews arrived to find a shed on fire at the rear of the property. After extinguishing the fire, firefighters discovered the burnt remains of what they only identified as a woman.
Yates said the Birmingham Fire Marshal’s Office along with the Birmingham Police Department are investigating the fire and the death.
