An 18-wheeler truck driver was killed Friday when a pick up truck crossed the media and collided with the truck head-on, a county coroner’s office confirmed Monday.

The accident happened at approximately 2 p.m. Friday on Interstate 59/20 South near the Allison-Bonnett Memorial Drive in Bessemer, Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Monday.

Jamaiyia Geivoca Foote, 30, of Macon, Mississippi, was pronounced dead at the scene, Yates said.

Yates said Alabama state troopers were investigating the accident.
