Alabama pedestrian struck, killed by driver who fled scene, state troopers said

An Alabama pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning when he was struck by a car, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. Saturday, and claimed the life of a Hazel Green, Alabama, man.

The pedestrian, Willard A. Mann, 38, was fatally injured when he was struck by a white Ford Taurus.

Mann was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Ford left the scene of the crash and the driver is currently unknown.

The crash occurred on U.S. 231 near Patterson Lane, approximately five miles north of Huntsville, in Madison County.
