An Alabama woman who texted her family for help, telling them that she was being held hostage on Sunday was found dead of a gunshot wound Monday morning.

Mahogany Jackson, 20, was reported missing on Sunday, Birmingham police said.

Jackson reportedly texted members of her family early Sunday telling them she was being held against her will. She sent them her exact location. The family called police who rushed to the scene along with family members.

The area was searched but Jackson could not be said.

Jackson’s body was found dead early Monday morning after a citizen spotted her body body on the roadside near 17th Street SW and Laurel Avenue.

By early Monday, no arrests had been made, but the homicide investigation was continuing.
