Alabama Skies: Nice Sunday as we look at the changes in the next severe weather risk

We’ll have what some call “Chamber of Commerce” weather across the state Sunday with plenty of sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Northern Alabama will have some gusty winds, but the rest of the state will have a gentle breeze with a few stronger gusts.

As we mentioned last week, the Storm Prediction Center is monitoring the risk for some strong storms, hail, and maybe even a tornado or two midweek. Models are still showing this possibility Wednesday, but the coverage area has moved quite a bit.

The forecast could certainly change again over the next day or two, but for now the risk covers northern Alabama and stretches north. Rain chances drop considerably the farther south in the state one lives.

North Alabama

Sunny with a high of 67. Breezy with wind gusts up to 20 miles per hour. Sunday night, partly cloudy with a low of 50.

Central Alabama

Sunny with a high of 68. Overnight, clear with a low of 47.

South Alabama

Sunny with a high of 70. Mostly clear Sunday night with a low of 43.

Gulf Coast

Sunny with a high of 72. Clear overnight with a low of 48.
