An Alabama man was killed Tuesday evening when he lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown from the bike, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 5:17 p.m. Tuesday, and claimed the life of a Brierfield, Alabama, man.

Derrick A. Lilly, 48, was fatally injured when the 2022 Can-Am Spyder motorcycle he was operating left the roadway.

Lilly was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Chilton County 327 near Alabama 22, approximately one mile east of Maplesville, in Chilton County.
