An Alabama man was killed Saturday night when his motorcycle veered off the road and struck a light pole, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 6:25 p.m. Saturday, and claimed the life of a Daleville man.

Patrick H. Richardson, 63, was fatally injured when the 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was operating left the roadway and struck a light pole.

Richardson was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash occurred on Parrish Road near the Daleville city limits in Dale County.
