Alabama man killed, two others injured in head-on collision, state troopers say

An Alabama man was killed Thursday when his pickup truck collided head-on with another truck, state troopers said.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 12:50 p.m. Thursday, and claimed the life of a Logan, Alabama, man.

Jerry M. Simmons, 72, was fatally injured when the 2008 Toyota Tacoma that he was driving collided head-on with a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Micah A. Godfrey, 27, of Arley, Alabama.

Simmons was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Micah A. Godfrey and the passenger of the Chevrolet, Kelsey Godfrey, 24, also of Arley, were both injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

Neither were using a seat belt at the time of crash.

The crash occurred on U.S. 278 near mile marker 67, approximately 10 miles west of Cullman city limits, in Cullman County.
