An Alabama was arrested last week and charged with cruelty to animals after police said they found three dead dogs and more than 30 live dogs on her property.

Heather Sheffield, 44, of Moulton, Alabama, was charged with 10 counts of cruelty to animals after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a search warrant on an abandoned residence on County Road 324.

Investigators seized 32 dogs who were reportedly in poor health from the site. Two of those dogs were in such poor health that they had to be euthanized. In addition, investigators said they found three dead dogs on the property.

The seized dogs are receiving veterinary care and are being cared for by the Lawrence County Animal Shelter.
