A third Alabama Department of Corrections offer has been accused of using a phone app to receive money from an inmate for personal gain.
Ebony Breauna Chillous faces charges of using her position for personal gain, as well as attempting to distribute drugs. The ADOC said Chillous was a correctional officer at Staton Correctional Facility.
Chillous is the third ADOC employee to be arrested in two weeks.
All three ADOC employees arrested have been charged with using their official position for personal gain.
Two Elmore Correctional officers were arrested on Jan. 9. They are accused of being paid by an inmate via Cash App in exchange for food.
Court filings indicate the incident that prompted Chillous’ Thursday arrest happened around Nov. 30 and involved her receiving money from an ADOC inmate via Cash App. It’s unclear what the money was in exchange for.
Chillous is being held on bail totaling $50,000 at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
