A man was killed Sunday morning when the SUV in which he was riding veered off the road, struck an embankment and overturned, Alabama state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. Sunday, and claimed the life of a Huntland, Tenn., man.

Mickey J. Williams, 61, who was a passenger in the 2009 Toyota 4Runner, was fatally injured when the 4Runner left the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.

Williams was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the 4Runner was Elizabeth M. Armentrout, 45, also of Huntland, Tenn.

The crash occurred on Winchester Road, approximately seven miles north of New Market, in Madison County.
