Alabama Skies: Snow becoming likely for some as winter weather heads our way

We’ve been watching the models for several days and it looks like some of us will get a decent amount of snow and all of us from the mountains to the beaches will deal with some extremely cold temperatures.
North Alabama, especially the northwestern corner and along the Tennessee border, has a good chance to get a few inches of snow Monday and Tuesday. Some areas could begin seeing snow Sunday night.
We could also see some sort of mix between snow, sleet, and freezing rain into central Alabama.
We’ll all be cold, but Tuesday night and Wednesday night will take sub-freezing temperatures all the way to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. With some pretty gusty winds, our windchill values could be in the 0 to 10 range across the state.
With temperatures this cold, there will be quite a few people and animals in need. Please take Sunday to be sure your plans are ready for people, pets, pipes, and plants.
