Alabama and federal authorities were searching for a suspected carjacker Friday after a family traveling through the state was carjacked and their two young children kidnapped in the proces.
The children were found hours later unharmed in the truck that was abandoned.
State police sent out an Amber Alert for the missing children early Friday, but canceled it a short time later after the children were found.
The family, reportedly from New England, was at the Love’s Truck Stop off Interstate 65 when an armed man approached them and took their truck and a trailer it was hauling.
No suspect was immediately identified, police said.
