Alabama Skies: Take advantage of Saturday’s weather to prepare for unusual cold, snow, and wintry mischief

It’s hard to believe after a stormy Friday and an artic blast coming Sunday that Saturday will actually be a pleasant day. It’s going to be a great day to finalize taking care of people, pets, pipes, and plants before near-record cold envelopes the entire state.

We’re going to be very cold for several days and nights, but Tuesday night looks to be the coldest right now. We’ll have single digit wind chills all the way down to the Gulf Coast Tuesday night.

Snow is becoming likely in northern communities while a mixture of rain, snow, and sleet is possible into central Alabama. It’s still a low chance for wintry weather in central Alabama right now, but wintry weather is tough to forecast, and things could easily change. A change in one or two degrees could be the difference between rain or snow.

North Alabama

Sunny with a high of 46. Wind chills near 20 early. Becoming partly cloudy overnight with a low of 24 and wind chills into the teens.

Central Alabama

Sunny with a high of 47. Becoming partly cloudy overnight with a low of 29.

South Alabama

Sunny with a high of 49. Partly cloudy overnight with a low of 30.

Gulf Coast

Sunny with a high of 54. Wind chills near 30 early. Partly cloudy Saturday night with a low of 34.
