Alabama man killed when car strike utility pole guy wire, then a tree

An Alabama man was killed Thursday when his car struck a utility pole guy-wire and then a tree, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 9:53 a.m. Thursday, and claimed the life of a Hackleburg, Alabama, man.

Frankie S. Swinney, 52, was critically injured when the 2013 Ford Focus he was driving left the roadway, struck a utility pole guy-wire and a tree.

Swinney was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center-Hamilton in Hamilton, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The crash occurred on Marion County 49 near Alabama 253, approximately 10 miles northeast of Hamilton, in Marion County.
