Alabama Skies: Severe weather threat sneaks into Friday forecast

A portion of Alabama now has a risk for a few severe storms Friday evening and Friday night.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed a Level 1 risk along and near the Gulf Coast. Risks include a tornado or two, strong winds, hail, and heavy rain. The risks begin about 8 or 9 p.m. and continues overnight.
Otherwise, we’ll have plenty of rainfall across the state. Temperatures will be warmer with showers beginning mostly in the afternoon. Some rainfall overnight and Saturday morning could be on the heavy side.
North Alabama
Partly sunny with a slight chance of a shower in the evening. High of 50 with wind chills in the 20s early. Showers overnight with a low of 39.
Central Alabama
Increasing clouds with a slight chance of a shower in the afternoon. High of 54. Cloudy overnight with showers likely. Low of 44.
South Alabama
Mostly sunny with a shower or two around in the afternoon. High of 56. Becoming cloudy in the evening with showers likely. Thunderstorms possible overnight. Low of 46.
Gulf Coast
Showers likely with a storm possible in the afternoon. High of 63. More showers in the evening and overnight with a severe storm possible. Low of 51.
