The Alabama mother whose 3-year-old son shot and killed himself a few days before Christmas is expected to be criminally charged.

Meosha Lakee Mayfield, 30, of Birmingham, is wanted on reckless manslaughter charges, the Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama officials said in a social media post.

Mayfield’s son, Kacey Jackson, 3, was found dead on December 21 at Mayfield’s residence on Second Avenue North, police reported.

The child apparently found the gun in the house and shot himself by accident.

Crime Stoppers’ post indicated that Mayfield was still sought for the charges. Her whereabout were unclear.
