An Alabama man was charged Saturday with killing his 2-month-old daughter, a local sheriff said.

Shannon Lee Stewart, 33, of Double Springs, Alabama, was charged with capital murder, Winston County Sheriff’ Caleb Snoddy said in a news release.

Amasia Faith Stewart, 2-months-old, was taken to a local hospital Saturday where she was pronounced dead.

Additional details of the child’s death have not been released yet as the investigation is ongoing, Snoddy said.

The sheriff said additional charges are pending and said the investigation was “sensitive and ongoing.”

“Please pray for the family, S.O. staff and others involved at this time,” Snoddy said.
