Alabama Skies: Snowy weather more likely in certain areas

The chance for snow has increased for specific areas of Alabama, especially for communities in higher elevations. Although we’re not expecting too much accumulation or dangerous impacts, some areas could get a decent snow shower Friday or Friday night.

Snow flurries could be possible in central Alabama Friday night.

The rest of the state remains on the cool side with plenty of clouds and a few sprinkles in central Alabama and a mixture of sunshine and clouds in southern Alabama.

North Alabama

A slight chance of rain or snow showers in the morning, then rain in the afternoon. High of 41. A chance for snow returns in the evening and overnight. Low of 31. Wind gusts up to 15 miles per hour, dropping the windchill into the 20s.

Central Alabama

Mostly cloudy with a chance for sprinkles in the afternoon. High of 46. In the evening, there is a chance for a rain or snow shower. Mostly cloudy overnight with a low of 32.

South Alabama

Partly sunny with a high of 50. Partly cloudy overnight with a low of 30.

Gulf Coast

Sunny with a high of 51. Friday night, clear with a low of 35.
