An Alabama man has been indicted on murder charges after police say he beat her with a hammer and a metal pipe during an argument at their workplace.

Victor Manuel Funez Cruz, 59, was arrested in July after the incident on July 11 at McVantage Packaging on Highway 49 in Tuscumbia, Alabama.

Investigators believe Cruz and Edith Margarita Martinez, 59, got into an argument at their place of work when Cruz assaulted Martinez with a hammer, then a metal pipe.

Investigators believe the two had been in a long-term relationship.

Cruz was being held in the Colbert County Jail without bond.
