An Alabama woman was killed and two other people injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle accident, police said.

Mary Ann Malone, 85, was a passenger in a Lincoln SUV that was struck by a Chevrolet Suburban that whose driver lost control and crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic, police said.

Malone was taken to a hospital, but died later in the day Tuesday of her injuries.

The accident happened at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 31 South, just south of Pisgah Road in Decatur. The drivers of the Chevrolet and the Lincoln were both taken to hospitals for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately known.

Police are investigating the accident.
