More than four decades after a grisly rape and murder of an Alabama woman, her killer was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday.
Alvin Ray Allen, 65, was sentenced to life in the 1980 murder of Sandra Williams.
The 19-year-old Williams was found raped and stabbed to death in 1980, her body dumped.
Her murder remained unsolved and considered a cold case by investigators until 2019 when investigators found a sample of fluid on Williams’ jeans for DNA testing.
Soon after they linked Allen to the crime scene. He was tried in 2020 and the trial ended with a hung jury.
His second trial concluded in October as a jury convicted him of Williams’ murder.
