An Alabama Buddhist monk was found burned and bleeding last week, but no one seems to know yet what happened to him, a TV station reported.

Mobile police told FOX-10 TV that they were not currently investigating the matter because they found no evidence of a crime.

The monk’s friends, however, told the TV station that they believe the monk was attacked.

The monk was reportedly found with what was described as a chemical burn.

The TV station quoted someone who claimed to be a student of the monk’s and said the monk was being treated at University Hospital.
