An Alabama man was killed Monday morning when his pickup truck left the road and struck a large pile of dirt, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. Monday, and claimed the life of a Clanton, Alabama, man.

Jimmie W. Cleckler, 63, was critically injured when the 2016 Ford F-150 pickup he was driving left the roadway and struck a large mound of dirt.

Cleckler was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Clanton, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The crash occurred on U.S. 31 near the 213 mile marker, approximately 3 miles south of Clanton, in Chilton County.
