A dispute at an Alabama restaurant led to a deadly shooting in the lunchtime hour Saturday, police said.

Birmingham police were called to the Pita Shop on 12th Street South shortly after noon Saturday.

They found an unresponsive man inside the restaurant with an apparent gunshot wound.

He was taken to UAB Hospital where he later died.

Police said they believe the victim was a customer of the restaurant who got into an argument with the owner. The fight started as a verbal dispute but became physical before a gun was fired.

The suspect was detained by police. It was unclear if charged would be filed or not.
