A convicted Alabama murderer was found dead Monday in his private prison cell, a coroner official said Wednesday.
Larry Jamelle Amerson, 38, an inmate at the William Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer, Alabama, was found unresponsive at approximately 11:21 a.m. Monday, Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said.
Amerson was pronounced dead 15 minutes later, Yates said.
Amerson was serving a life sentence for a 2004 murder conviction in Jefferson County.
Yates said the initial autopsy performed Tuesday indicated no signs of trauma or foul play. The cause of death is pending lab results, Yates said.
