An Alabama high school football player was murdered Thursday night, stabbed to death after an apparent argument with a man who now sits in jail charged with the teen’s murder.

Police say Robert Baldwin Jr., 18, who was a football player for Hillcrest High School in Evergreen was stabbed on Highway 83 Thursday night. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, the Conecuh County Coroner’s Office reported.

Evergreen police later arrested Jimmy Clyde Clark, 33, and charged him with Baldwin’s murder.

Police believe the two got into an argument that became violent when Clark brandished a knife and stabbed Baldwin multiple times.

Police have not said what may have led to the argument or how the pair knew one another.
