A second suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a 2014 murder, a local district attorney said Friday.

The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office executed an arrest warrant on a secret indictment for Billie Joe Turner.

Turner is the second alleged person associated with the murder of Charles E. Jackson Jr., a 2014 homicide cold case.

Multiple agencies have investigated this case throughout the years, and with the cooperation of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, Billie Joe Turner has been indicted for Murder.

The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office believes that Billie Joe Turner did intentionally cause the death of Charles E. Jackson Jr., in May of 2014 in the West Mobile area alongside Bridgette Mathews, who was arrested in September 2023 for her alleged involvement in the murder.

“This arrest gets us one step closer to a complete picture of what happened to Mr. Jackson on that fateful day,” says Keith Blackwood, Mobile County District Attorney. “We stand ready to prosecute when a trial date is set.”
