An Alabama woman who worked as a substitute teacher has been arrested and charged with having sex with a student, a county sheriff said.

Kristen Jade Ford, 30, who worked as a substitute teacher in the DeKalb County (Alabama) School District, has been charged with having sex with a student.

Investigators received a tip about the relationship and began investigating, DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said.

Ford was arrested on Thursday.

“Cases involving our children are never easy, but I am thankful for our investigation unit and their diligence in resolving this case so fast,” Weldon said. “Our children are our future and protecting them is our number one priority.”

“We are very thankful for the cooperation and assistance with the DeKalb County Board of Education and the great working relationship we have with them.”
