One teen dead, four injured when truck strikes tree, Alabama troopers say

One Alabama teen was killed and four others injured Thursday afternoon when a pickup truck veered off the road and struck a tree, state troopers said.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. Thursday, and claimed the life of a Deatsville, Alabama, juvenile.
The 14-year-old was fatally injured when the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up, the teen was a passenger in, left the roadway and collided with a tree.
The teen was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Silverado, a 16-year-old, also of Deatsville, was injured along with three other passengers, another 14-year-old, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old.
All four teens were transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment.
The crash occurred on Lightwood Road near Hickory Road, approximately 11 miles north of Wetumpka, in Elmore County.
