Alabama Skies: Weather pattern change heading our way

Published 9:32 pm Wednesday, December 6, 2023

After a couple sunny, crisp days across the state, we’re about to see a pattern shift.

We’ll have one more nice day Thursday with highs close to 60, but clouds begin to move into the region Thursday night. Friday will bring more clouds with increasing temperatures and humidity levels.

Forecast models are showing a strong system moving our way this weekend. We’ll see plenty of rain chances across all regions of Alabama with a few storms possible.

Most of this will enter the state Saturday evening and overnight into Sunday.

Although we’re not expecting severe storms currently, our neighbors in Mississippi have been under severe risks levels 1 and 2 for several days. Depending on what the system does, we could see the Storm Prediction Center expand that risk into Alabama. We’ll watch to see what happens.

North Alabama

Sunny with a high of 59. Partly cloudy Thursday night with a low of 39.

Central Alabama

Sunny with a high of 58. Overnight, partly cloudy with a low of 40.

South Alabama

Sunny with a high of 60. Becoming mostly cloudy Thursday night with a low of 37.

Gulf Coast

Frost early, then mostly sunny with a high of 61. Mostly cloudy overnight with a low of 46.
