An Alabama pedestrian was killed Monday night when he was struck by multiple vehicles as he walked along a road; police said none of the motorists stopped.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the man was identified as 48-year-old Erby Jason Moore of Fairfield, Alabama.

Moore was reportedly walking along Interstate 59/20 between 25th Street and Ensley Avenue in Birmingham at approximately 6:24 p.m. Monday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Yates said Moore was struck by “multiple motor vehicles” and that “all vehicles involved failed to stop and report the incident to the police.”

Birmingham police are investigating the death, Yates said.
